Storyblok

Storyblok continues to transform the digital experience with its innovative headless CMS; essentially, a back-end only system which allows busy marketers and developers to work quicker, easier, and with greater flexibility than ever before.

Founded in 2017 and widely recognised as one of Austria’s fastest growth startups, Storyblok now has a team of over 250+ people across the world and an enviable list of blue chips clients including Netflix, Tesla, Pizza Hut and Adidas.

As the lead PR agency for Storyblok, Old Street’s brief was to continue to raise awareness of the headless CMS revolution and achieve a dominant share of voice amongst key target sector media including enterprise, marketing, tech, retail, IT, and business.

But this wasn’t necessarily an easy feat. The martech and enterprise media space is small and notoriously difficult to get into. At the same time, CMS was widely perceived as a ‘dry’ tech category and there was little in the way of appetite for CMS stories.

The solution

The initial focus hinged on the provision of heavyweight thought leadership designed to raise Storyblok’s profile and effectively position it as the ‘voice of the industry’ in the field of CMS, digital storytelling and ecommerce strategy, while pulling through the headless CMS offer. Key focuses included generative AI, AR/VR, marketing in the metaverse, the transition to composable architecture, the omni channel experience, women in tech and the strategic leveraging of other relevant tech narratives.

This was underscored by a hardworking media engine room dedicated to ensuring a regular churn of news releases and case studies designed to create noise and powerful, mass exposure in targeted trade media across all key markets.

Old Street also devised a number of research-led campaigns designed to create talkability and excitement around the Storyblok brand, particularly in hard-to-reach press. This included a multi-tiered campaign labeled ‘Webarrassment’ which explored current martech spending levels versus website performance, resulting in over 30 pieces of coverage alone.

Results

Although ongoing, the campaign has so far proved a fantastic success, generating 300 pieces of earned press coverage including in high-profile national publications such as the Daily Mail, The Times, Forbes, and The Telegraph. Storyblok also continues to achieve a dominant share of voice amongst its A-list target media such as Sifted, Tech Crunch, Enterprise Times, Tech EU, and Venturebeat.
